EducationI am a first year PhD student in Entomology at PSU. I received my B.S. from UC Davis in 2015 with a major in International Agricultural Development and minors in Insect Biology and Nutrition. I was on the Dean's List for 3 quarters at UC Davis and graduated with a 3.42 GPA.
ExperienceI tutored high school math for 2 years during my undergraduate career. I am currently a teaching assistant for an introductory science course at Penn State where I regularly help students with difficult subject matter as well as organize and lead regular review sessions.
I am working with the Penn State Center for Science in the Schools to develop curriculum on pollinator biology and conservation for high school and middle school science teachers, so I am familiar with the topics being taught at these levels.
I am also able to tutor younger children. I worked for a year as a family assistant where I regularly helped the children (aged 9, 13, 16) with their homework and well as with general organization practices.
I am a patient teacher, and I will work with each client on a case-by-case basis to ensure that they get the most out of their tutoring experience. I care deeply about working with people and passing on knowledge and I enjoy tackling complex subject matter.
HobbiesI am from California originally and I recently moved to State College to start my graduate program. I research plant-pollinator interactions, so I spend most of my summers hanging out in a field watching insects on flowers!
I enjoy being outdoors, and on summer weekends I can be found hiking with my dog or floating down a river. In the colder months I frequent on-campus poetry slams or art classes and I'm hoping to spend more time at the rock wall.
